Live Event FAQS

Be sure to read the entire race details page in addition to this FAQ to make sure you have all the necessary info about the Santa Rosa Marathon!

Is the marathon a Boston Marathon qualifier?
Yes, this course will be USATF-certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier.
What are the course time limits?
All Marathon & Half Marathon runners must at least maintain a 15-minute pace per mile. Traffic control, race monitors, volunteers and race officials will vacate the course at 1:26 pm. If a runner falls off pace, they could be cut off early and rerouted to a shorter race distance by race officials.
Can I run with my baby stroller or dog?
No, we do not allow dogs or strollers on the course for the safety of our runners.
How old do you have to be to compete?
There is no age limit for the 5k or 10k, but runners must be at least 16 years of age to run in the half marathon, and 18 years of age to run in the full marathon. A parent or guardian must sign a waiver of liability for any person under the age of 18 wishing to participate.

Where can I run/walk?

Anywhere! This is your virtual run, and we want you to complete it wherever and whenever you want. Sidewalks, trails, and treadmills are all fair game. Want to make this a family run or walk with a stroller or your miniature schnauzer Sprinkles? Now’s the chance! Make the race you want. 

When do I need to complete my run?

You can complete your run anytime. Once you complete your run, you can log your results online starting on June 1, 2022. After that, you can download your Finisher’s Certificate, see how you rank on our active leaderboard, and upload photos to share with fellow participants. To receive a Finisher’s Certificate, your run must be completed and logged by December 31st. 

How do I track my distance and time?
There will be live tracking available for the Full Marathon and Half. The link will be emailed to week of the event. For the Virtual Run, we accept results on the honor system, but the most accurate tracking is typically via a device with GPS tracking.
How do I log my results?

After you’ve completed your run, click the Log Result button on your Virtual Run registration to enter your time. Once you’ve entered your run time, click the Finisher Certificate button to download your personalized Finisher Certificate*.

*Finisher’s certificates will be available starting on June 1, 2022. 

When will my packet ship?
Packets will begin shipping at the beginning of August. After that time, runners can expect to see their goodie bag arrive within 3-4 weeks of registering.
Do I need to submit results to get a medal?

No. Your medal will be mailed to you with your packet after you register!

Do you ship internationally?
The Santa Rosa Marathon Virtual Run is currently available only for addresses within the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii*.
What do I do if my goodie bag doesn’t fit? Can I swap it?

We do not offer any size exchanges post packet shipment. All changes to sizes need to be made prior to confirming registration. We highly recommend that all participants take care to view the sizing chart to order the correct size.

Where can I find my bib number?
Bib numbers will be dynamically assigned upon check-in at the expo.
What happens if the race is cancelled?
If the live race is cancelled due to COVID-19 or any of its variants (the “Pandemic”) and/or governmental restrictions put in place as a result of or in connection with the Pandemic which make the live race unfeasible or impractical to run, each registrant will have the option of receiving a refund, deferring fees paid to the next year’s race, or applying the fees to entry into the Santa Rosa Marathon Virtual Run. Each registrant must indicate his/her choice within thirty days of being notified of the cancellation by answering the questionnaire sent with the cancellation notice and returning such questionnaire to us. If a registrant does not make a timely election, the registrant will be entered in the virtual run and the live race fees applied to the virtual run entry fee. In no event will the processing fee or fees paid for merchandise orders be refunded due to the race cancellation. Merchandise orders paid for will be shipped to the address associated with the registrant’s race profile by the scheduled date of the cancelled event*. In addition we will not be responsible for any costs relating to changed or cancelled travel plans or other related arrangements a registrant may incur due to any such cancellation. A date or venue change is not a cancellation.

*Wine will not be shipped to runners that opt into the Santa Rosa Marathon Virtual Run.

Can I get a refund?
All sales are final. No refunds will be given, unless you are registered for a live race and the live race is cancelled by the event organizer due to COVID-19 or any of its variants (the “Pandemic”) and/or governmental restrictions put in place as a result of or in connection with the Pandemic which make the live race unfeasible or impractical to run, in which case refunds will be given in accordance with the policy outlined in the FAQ titled What happens if the event is cancelled?. A date or venue change is not a cancellation.
Can I switch distances?
Yes, you can change distances online before registration closes. Details on completing this process are coming soon!
Is there a walker division?
Walkers are welcome in all events, but they will need to abide by course closure times and maintain at least a 15-minute pace per mile.
Will there be prizes for winners?
Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Awards for the top three overall will be given out based on GUN times, Age group awards will be based on chip time. There will be an awards ceremony for overall awards. Those that don’t wish to stay for the overall awards ceremony may pick up their award from the customer service tent.
Where can I find the race info packet?
The race info packet will be emailed to all participants in the week leading up to the event!
How can I reserve a space at the expo or post-race festival?
If you’re interested in reserving a space at either our expo or downtown after party, please email info@santarosamarathon.com and we’ll get back to you with more details.
Where can I check if I'm registered?
You can check via Enmotive.com.
What are the AWD (athletes with disabilities) guidelines and event rules?
Ventures Endurance happily welcomes all athletes to participate in our events. Athletes with Disabilities (AWD) include, but are not limited to the flowing athletes, Blade Runners, Visually Impaired Runners, Adaptive / Guided Runners, Pushed Athletes, Push Rim, Racing Chair and Hand Cycles. To participate as an AWD athlete you must notify the Race Director of your participation a minimum of 20 days in advance. This allows our staff to ensure the safety and security of each athlete on the course prepare the ES (early starters) corral for athletes. To ensure your spot and be approved as an AWD participant please contact awd@venturesendurance.com. We’ll ship the same awesome goodie bag* right to you! Full and half marathoners get an ultra-comfy hoodie and a wine stopper medal! Our 5K and 10K runners get a soft and stretchy full-zip hoodie and commemorative medal. *The wine given to half and full marathon participants at the live event is not included in the virtual offering.
