About the Santa Rosa Marathon
The Santa Rosa Marathon is a marathon, half marathon, 10K & 5K held annually in Sonoma County, California each August. The race was founded back in 2008 by a group of local runners who wanted to create a marathon that would showcase the beauty of Sonoma County.
The inaugural Santa Rosa Marathon gathered about 2,000 eager runners and has continued to grow since its first run, now attracting over 5,000 runners annually!
The Santa Rosa Marathon is known for its scenic course, which takes runners through the heart of Sonoma County past vineyards, rolling hills, and charming California towns. Over the years, the Santa Rosa Marathon has hosted a number of notable runners including Olympic medalists and world record holders and has been featured in several national publications including Runner’s World and The New York Times.
